We're looking for information on temperate invertebrates and their adaptations, feeding habits, appearance, etc. Also their general hardiness in captivity.

This is for AM on Nano-Reef, along with everyone reading his thread. Here's a link:

I've finally found the creature that I've been searching for for so long! In 2004/2005 (I can't remember exactly), during the Summer months, I caught the most fascinating creature about 25ft from the beach shore in Eastern Newfoundland. It was a Sea Butterfly! I'm sure of it. They're temperate, too! Everything fits. Just thought I'd share. Now, I have a spare 10g tank... Do you think this space would be sufficient to house one? I've got several months to do my research on the creatures (and on ...

Every year at the beach, numerous amounts of "blobs" as I call them can be found in the water. They are completely see-through other than a few purple perpendicular lines lining the inner edge. I believe them to be jellyfish, though they do not have tentacles. They range from a single inch to approximately 6 inches in length. They are definately not Mushroom Cap Jellyfish.

Can anyone tell me what these things might be?

Navanax inermis

Here is N. inermis. They frequent rocky and sandy temperate regions. They are Opisthobranchs and are large carnivores that eat bubble shells and other sea slugs/nudibranchs. They secret a stick substance when threatened and also have a slime trail that is more easily seen on sand shores.
